A farm that was made for something special

Your days with us at the Brondstott are as colourful and vibrant as life itself.

A farm always has stories to tell – and the Brondstott is no exception.

The name of our farm – the Brondstott – looks back on a history which first began over 150 years ago, and continues to this day.

Our farm, set in a picturesque location at 1,000 metres above sea level in the Pustertal Valley, looks back on a  long, eventful history. First mentioned in land registers of 1865, the farm was devastated by fire in 1937, leaving only the few walls and stones gave the farm its name: the Brondstott (English: the Fire Site). In 2023 and 24, we—Astrid and Alex—finally realised our dream of owning our own farm when we rebuilt the old farm, and created farmhouse holidays for families with children.

The Brondstott comprises three buildings which feature an appealing blend of traditional architecture and modern details. We made a conscious decision to use local materials; fire, coal, wood and stone play a central role, and we also embraced the time-honoured tradition of charred wood, which is both insect and weather-resistant. The wood that we use is snowfall, wind-thrown and bark-beetle damaged timber sourced from the surrounding forest, cut on-site with a portable sawmill and charred by Alex himself.

Having close bonds with the farming life and having grown up on a farm, we ploughed passion and love into planning and rebuilding the Brondstott. Today, is has given us a home, and our guests  a farmhouse haven for a holiday filled with tradition, modernity and leisurely relaxation.

Our farm is the stage, and life the star of the show

The Brondstott is home to us and our animals. The trees that thrive so happily in our garden yield all manner of delicious ingredients that we share with you.

Life on a farm

It’s beastly!
Like any self-respecting farm, the Brondstott is home to myriad furry and feathered animals. We keep a herd of Sprinzen suckler cows, a breed that is at risk of extinction, while our ponies love to be petted, and our chickens provide fresh eggs every day.

What grows in the garden?
Apples, apricots, berries, herbs… all the fruit and veg that thrives in our garden and fields are a joy to behold, and are harvested with endless love at the perfect time of the year. And we share it all with you, our guests.

What we harvest and make

Homemade delights from the Brondstott
When the fruits of the bushes and trees are ripe, we pick them, savour them, and cook up the bulk of the bounty into jams spreads and juices – nothing tastes better than homemade food!

Brondstott shop
If you want to go shopping, you don’t even have to leave the Brondstott! Our small farm shop stocks a wide array of delicacies that we have made ourselves, or have sourced directly from our beautiful region.

The Brondstott family

Astrid, Alex, Ella, Lotta, Frida – the people behind the Brondstott.

Our decision to pour our love and passion into renovating and running the Brondstott was no mere whim: Alex, now an ardent architect, has nourished a farming dream since childhood, when he would spend every spare minute on his friend’s farm and realised that he wanted that life for himself one day. Astrid grew up on a farm herself and is completely in her element at the Brondstott, where she brings her own childhood influences into farming life. The fact that our three girls are growing up surrounded by the countryside and animals, and can experience food production and farming life at first hand, is our greatest joy. And we want to share this joy with our guests who come here to spend a holiday on the farm.

Brondstott Suites: tailor-made for rest and leisure

The countryside around the Brondstott offers so much in the way of beauty, and is calling out to be explored and hiked. Naturally, of course, however, this doesn’t rule out the option of just sitting back in your suite, enjoying the comfort and basking in the joy of simply doing nothing.
